HKS Wins 2017 World Architecture Festival Award for Sport (Completed Projects)
, HKS won the Sport category (completed projects) at the 2017 World Architecture Festival (WAF) for its design of U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.
Known as the ‘Oscars of architecture’, WAF attracts architects and design professionals from across the world to explore, debate and celebrate the built environment. A key feature of the festival is the awards program, which includes live judging. Competing architects have just 10 minutes to present their designs, and judging takes place in real time.
The finalists in each category presented to the 2017 Super Jury who selected the winners of the 2017 World Building of the Year, Future Project of the Year and Landscape of the Year awards. The finalists’ presentations were streamed live on the ArchDaily Facebook page. Winners were interviewed by Dezeen, and the films are available on the Dezeen site.
This year, three HKS projects were shortlisted:
- US Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA (WINNER, Completed Projects: Sport), presented by Lance Evans
- Kuwait Children’s Hospital, Kuwait City, Kuwait (Future Project: Health category), presented by Dan Flower
- Royal Arena, Copenhagen, Denmark (Completed Projects: Sport), presented by 3XN
The judging panel comprised 100 architects and sector specialists from across the world.
